COUNTY HAI.LV Thirty-eight members of MorganHa nek Post, of this city, ultemled the season s lust rally of the American Legion posts of Cape May County, held at Woodbine, Thursday evening. Uihlwood, with 44 men, beat Ocean City <»ut this time in the matter of attendance. There were 15k service men ut the rally. ] The hoys were welcomed by the mayor of Woodbine, who in his speech olfettsl to give the Woodbine Post $500 toward a home if the peo* ' pie of the town will donate $1,500. Short speeches were made by Chaplain Sargeant, of Wildwood; County ' ( bail man Woods, County Orgunizer Winterhurn and Commander John K. ' Trout, of Morgan- Knnck Post. , The memliers of the legion enjoyed , their visit very much, and the local men speik highly of the manner in ' which they were entertaine<t by the ! Woodbine post and the people of that place. They were provided widh an excellent dinner. ■■ ■ ■ o — i MORGAN-MUCK POST HONORS ITS DEAD ; I Former Service Men Place Wreath on Tablet — Hear , j Sermon by Or Hundley Memliers of Morgan- Itanck Post, | American legion, of this city, honored the. memory of, their fallen dead by marching from the headquarters of the organization, in the Hann Building/to the tablet in front of I city hull and 'placing thereon u I wreath containinx many poppies on i Sunday evening* * The hoys, headed by Post Com- < mumler John K. Trout, and accomp- i anted by the Rev. Dr. John llandley, i pastor of the First M. K. Church, a ) former chaplain in the service on the l other side, presented a soldier-like liearing as they made the short march ; as well they might, as most of them saw hard service on the fields of France. Commander Trout read from the American legion manual thut portion of its contents relating to such service, the wreath was placed on the monument, prayer was offered by Dr. Handley, patriotic songs were sung by the gathering and "taps" were sounded by Bugler Biggins. Then the memliers of the post and I -adieu' Auxiliary marched to the First M. E. Church, where patriotic services were held. As thF organizations entered the crowded edifice, the strains of "Onward, Christian Soldier" pealed from the great organ. Appropriate hymns were sung by the choir and congregation, and a strong sermon was delivered by Dr.. Handley, who also mail a poem, composed by Mrs. H. M. Newlrirk, of this city. The poem was entitled "War'M Aftermath J' J. Prescott Cadman. ' M., of this city, went to Atlantic ' City Tuesduy evening, when u big J class of cuudiduLes was made "Indianx" in Odd Fellows' Hull In that city. The three degrees were given. That of the adoption was given by Kalmiu Tribe's degree team; the warrior's degree by Arasupha Tribe, and the chief's degree by Mineoia. The work was particularly well done, and was appreciated by the throng in attendance.
