This is Mrs. Harris' third year in the same cottage. Mrs. Francis Mourer. of Phila. has . opened her cottage on Asbury avenue for the season. She recently purchased the house through Kdgar F. FINE EXHIBIT Skill Shown by Students in Manual Training Work The annual exhibit of the work of the pupils of the manual training and domestic science departments of the. rooms in the local high school building, which was given Wednesday evening of last week, drew a large number of the relatives and friends of the young people, and they expressed their appreciation of the skin shown by the students in both branches of this work. The young women taking the courses in cooking, etc., made a most excellent exhibit of their effort* in these tinea and there was a fine display of appetizing dishes, not to speak of the pies and cakes. Miss A. Ethel Nickerxon, their instructor, won much praise. The display in the manual training department was much better liicr. in other years, splendid a* it has been . in the past, under the direction of Prof. C. G. Kilby, the painstaking and competent instructor. One. of the first articles that at-, tracted the attention of visitors as they entered the room was a large j China closet, the work of Wm. Hawthorne, a first-year high school boy. j The closet Is 6 feet, 4 inches high, and 4 feet wide. There were two well-made library table lamps, turn- ; ed out by Leslie Smith and Harry ' Hawthorne. Leslie Smith is a young artist of unusual ability, and some of , hia artistic skill was revealed in the figures on the lamp shades. Other articles worthy of mention were chessboards by h red. Pfitxenmyer ami Anthony Selvagn; Morris chair, Sylvester Bushav; book-case. T. Lee Adams: floor lamps, "Jack" Snyder and Wm. Garretson; card tablet, John Devine and. Wm. Garretson; desk tables, George Blackmail and Franklin Jones. The wood-turning work by several of the boys was decidedly above the ordinary. , DOTS Cottagers are arriving in great numbers. The Porter-Smith Co., of this city ' has received the contract to build a storm sewer for Millville, costing 125,000. There was a discussion as to the choice of unsuitable name for the chapter. Miss Mabel Clay was chosen to lead ' the ways and means committee.
