More of the residents should join the others in thus improving and making attractive the surroundings of their properties. schooTSildren in • good physical shape Prof. Unger Makes Interesting Report to Board of Education Prof. E. E. Unger, director, has made a most interesting report to the Board of Education' regarding the work in the physical training department of the public schools of this city for the school year recently ended. Mr. Unger states that at the iwginning of the school year a physical examination was given to each puoil .from the fifth grade up tin. .ugh the high school. Of 286 pupils examine! for deformaties, it was found that 77 had flat chests; 17 -had hollow tracks; 17 had left C-form socliosis; 22 had protruding abdomens; K had their right shoulders higher than their left; 59 had their right shouhlers lower; 14 had left shoulders higher than the right; 11 had left shouhlers lower: 58 had bow-legs; «MI were knockkneed; 45 hail flat feet and weak ankles. After reviewing the health rnnditions as found among the pupils. Ml. Unger tells of the formation of health dubs in the grade rooms, and of the great result accomplished. Supt. Stevens and the teachers, the report states, have given their hearty cooperation and they have expressed the belief that splendid re«uli have been obtained. Frequent posture lot: were given and there were occasional health talks to the children. A complete resume uf the work dome in the physical training rl»s-e» during the year is given by Prof. Unger, and it is a report that i- full of meat. The report concludes with the following; "I have paper- giving fall detailed information regarding the following in my office in the high school building: Program', of field day festivals, physical training demonstration, etc,; information concerning our boxing and wrr-tline tnumaments; physical examination cards; I health survey questlonaires; result: of 400 physical examination:, health t surveys and strength te-i-; gymnastic apparatus and use of each piece; Unger's health alphabet of health proverbs; health club plan (modifed); three-minute drills, ten lesson-; -upuleiflentary lessons in physical training for all grades; marching rali.-the-nics^ fancy steps, and point- for AUTO BUS LICENSES The city is providing, by an ordinance, a license of $10 for each auto bus running in this resort and u-e.| in the transportation of persons to and from different Municipalities. Such veSlde* must not take ■ , I |>I discharge any persons within the city limits except where the machines' stop at Eighth street and Oci-an avenue; Fifteenth ,-treel and Anbury avenue; Thirty- fourth -treet and Ahurjr avenue, and Fifty-fifth street and Central avenue. * The ordinance will come In-fore the City Commissioners for third reading and final passage on June 27.
