PROPERTY OWNERS OBJECT Te C ontractor* and Tea msUrs Taking Kaad from Beach Front A . number of property owners along the beach front are complaining of the practice of contractor* and others of taking cartloads of sand from lands of private individual* Without asking permission. The land owners now iteclnre that they are determined to stop this illegal action ind suit is being brought and will be irought against those so offending. It is claimed by some of the people owning land on the ocean front at Eleventh, Fifteenth and Sixteenth Streets that the men who have been taking this sand are known to them and that they have been warned to desist, but that they continue to cart the sand away, claiming that it is In the street and is public property. The statement is made that sand has been carted from land, on the beach in the vicinity of Seventeenth street, inside of the Boardwalk, where the Righway has not been cut through or turned over to the municipality, and on which the owner pays considerable taxes each year to the city. • John B. Thompson, a. local teamster, was before Police Justice Frank H. Ware Friday morning, charged by Miss Alberta A. Cline, o(_ Locksley Hall, with carting sand from her land on the beach at Seventeenth street. The accused said that he has been carting sand from the beach foi twenty years, and had never heard any complaint. He wanted only twe or three loads this time for a mar who was doing some mason work. Justice Wan reserved his decision
