MAKING TWO NKW/FO&DN^ Mr. American Citizen, whoever yon are, try to proyide an well as you can for your daughter or daughters, hut lc< "the boy" provide for himself, says an exchange. Auyyuy. that is what you will 'do if you want your son to l>c a real man. There is not a rich man who miuie his money h.v his own efforts who isn't glad, by, the eternal, that he was not I Kirn rich. He knows that if he had been brought up to wealth, he wouldn't have hud half the fun in life — none of the pleasure of achievement that has been his. He knows that great usefulness in life i.- not only a distinction but a personal joy. And as he looks abroad at the lives of welthy men who got their money from their fathers, he congratulate* himself 011 his great good luck that he had to make his. •• As a well-known American writer •remarks: "Taking "cure of wealth and spending it, is a business in itself." The average young man who is given all the money he wants, has too much to do spending it and doing, the things in life that wealth and "position" are supposed to demand. When middle life eomes he realizes the fatuousness of it all, but it is too late. The golden hours when the aiphition for achievement (lows strong in the blood, have passed. Nobody knows letter the joy of doing things, of being a real man of action, than the man who becomes rich through his own efforts. Nobody knows better than he the failure of that joy in the man who was brought up to wealth. He knows it so well that, of course, he makes "the boy" go out and work for his wealth and place in life. Does he not? No he <ioes not! Th e average father who is self-mule gives that son of hlaJM money he wants, and thus plants two foolg on the face of the ! earth — himself and his boy. IT is understood that, before next 4 summer, there will be a large store and apartment building on the Boardwalk near Plymouth place, on th® tract of ground recently purchased by a Philadelphia business man, and ,that this improvement will be pne that wiM add materially to the hppearancc of the Boardwalk in that taction of the dty. One hears reports, too, that ImprovementsjUong the Boardwalk down toward* Four- - teenth street are contemplated by i _ moneyed men who feel assured ofj Ocean City's continued rapid growth. There pre indications that the city's built-up territory In the near future will be southward. The present movement in the construction of cottages and apartments appear to be in that direction. The prospect* are that within a very few years cottages will be numerous all along the territory from Seventeenth street to the Thirty-fourth street section, if not ; further down. Those who will Ik-* privileged to Jive a .lozen or fifteen years longer will see many remark- ■ able changes in Ocean City. Not ! only in this resort, but all along the ! present resorts forming an almost ' nuinterrupted improved territory for, the summef vacationist. TWO game law s passed by the last ' legislature, governing the use ofj hunting dogs, are causing widespread , commetp among New Jersey sport.-- : men as to their supposed advantages and disadvantages. Wiping • not : most of the former restrictions on the' use of dogs in closed seasons, these acts permit the training of dogs on dame, without firearms and in day- ; light throughout the year, except during the open season for ileer. Hunting foxes with s|og* and firearm* is also permitted throughout the year except on Sundays and .luring the deer season. The laws, it is i admitted by their sponsors, are large- ' ly experimental and abuses are certain to meet with their Immediate repeal by the next legislature. Fish and Game Commission officials ami | sportsmen's associations through.. 11! the State aft di«aouragin» the train- - ing of dogs uniler any conditions in 1
