FINE ENTERTAINMENT AT1HE NORMANDIE ' : I .Masquerade (Jiven By Em- J ployees of the Biff Hostelry The Hotel Nrft^namlie has held v many social affairs this season, the most brilliant, taking place Wednesday night, when, through the kindness of J. Howard Siocum, the popu- ^ lar manager of the big hostelry, the ,j employees of the hotel gave a Mas- d iiuerade Party and Dance to the s guests as a token of appreciation of J' their many kindness. The employees of the Norm an die, £ by the way, arc recruited from the ranks of collegians, Wilson, Diekin- ' son, Dartmouth, Carnegie Tech, j a Swarthntbre, and the University of r' Pennsylvania being represented in the * |H-rsonncl of the organization that helped to make Mr. Siocum 's house so popular this summer. The party proper began at 9.30 ° when the uniformed service men that a are enjoying a period of recreation ~ here us guests of the Hostess League, murrlied through the spacious lobby to a special place reserved for them. These men, fine fellows of the service, are still under the care of the government. They were accorded the tribute due them when the crowd stood at attention until they were seated. '"A tense moment" — Yes. You didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. The first number was the Grand March, led by little Miss Natalie MaGfil, representing Cupid. She was guided by Harry McGrath, Master of the Dance, costumed as Domino, and such a march it was! A riot df cos- ~ tumes and color, pretty girls and fellows. A recitation by Mildred tyason- ' . 'urimcr was well received. Then came the volunteer ilancc followed by a vocal solo by Eloire Peake. Perhaps the most enjoyable number was Miss . Nora Ijppi, in her interpretation of Jean Val-Jean, iA the scene of the Bishop's House from Victor Hugo's "lew Miserubles.-" A violin Jjelff by Herman Sel\-agen^ vaudeville by an all star cast college songs rendered by the different groups of students rounded out the evening's program with one exception, that of singing the National Anthem by the assemldy. Behind them a gigantic mirror; before them filling the lobby, . the assembled guests singing "The Stsr-Spangled Banner." It will give you no idea of the beauty of a scene that an artist would find difficult I" transfer to his canvas. Trophies were awarded by Mr. Siocum for the liest costumes, most comic costumes and the best dancers. The judges were in a quandary juid hail no end of difficulty in making their selection. All were exceedingly good. The winners are: Jenic Wallace as "Fatimn," Nora IJppi as "Widow",: Joe Augeiastio as "Tailor made Girl."] Rest dancers: Miss Helen Sheaffcrl
