of Plans for Season of 1922 "We are just growing with Ocean City" was the reply of Edward H. < lassen, local manager and member of the Read Hardware Company, when I c w an u.-ked why the company was : (filing 1,000 square feel of floor ' pace. "We hadn't room to handle the past season's business as efficiently as we would have liked. The company is making a rear brick extension i'f the first floor which when completed will give a floor space from the ave- ! i.ue straight through to the alley, a' total of 3,500 square feet. ' This addition is positively necessary based on ■the figures of this year's business amfj the estimated figureg for 1922. "Wc will add to our stock pipe and fittings, electrical supplies, and tinsmithing supplies and will carry a larger assortment of household furnishings in addition to our all-ready complete line hardware and mechanics' supplies. "It is contemplated by the" company - to convert the second floor of the building" into a house-furnishing department in the near future. Wc feel that we already have the most complete hardware store in the county ami plans for the future are so laid our progress will keep step with the de- : velopment of Ocean City. — - "The tendency of the peoplB to remain in Ocean City longer this fall hns been shown by the amount of business we have done for September • ami so far in October. I don't know of the exact figures, but it is a good substantial increase over last fall." - Mr. Classen is an experienced hardware man, having been identified for 15 years with the hardware concerns of New Brittan, Conn., which is the__ hardware center of the east. He is also a member of the hardware firm of Classen and Iaithan, of Media, Pa. "> came to Ocean City with his fare-; Hy last February. This condition, coupled with the lack of jnail receptacles, inevitably im- , pairs efficiency and delays delivery, . with a resultant public inconvenience ; and loss. To correct this evil it has been de- ! tided to conduct a nation-wide campaign with a view to having every I building properly^ numbered ami equip|ied with a suitable receptacle or open- ' in the door. As a preliminary step, on Oct. 19, ; 1921, the postmaster of every post office having city or villuge deliver service will require his carriers to report the address of every dwelling ami place of business on their routes not so numbered and equipped. The postmaster will then communicate with the owners or occupants urging upon them the importance of providing a proper number or suitareceptacle, or both, as the case may be, if they desire the prompt and safe delivery of their mail and wish to cooperate with their Government in providing a more efficient and Before buying NextCar see our larcjie stock of new and hifh-Orade UsedCars CnxAorTimgPaymioiia States Motor Service 808AtbntrAve
