On February 17th, the Battalion was assigned to the. First Army Corps, composed of the First, Second. Fortysecond anil Forty-sixth Divisions, and soon afterwanls got its first real taste of miMlern warfare In laying the forward circuits under the eyes of the German fortification* on the commanding height of Montxcc. Listening post duty became one of the tasks, and while thus engaged three of their number became eotirely isolated b£ the advancing Germans in the first raid against the American positions — the attack on the Marines at Seicheprey. The good luck which followed the communil throughout the war — they lost hut one man, aqd that by an accident, though under fire for weeks at a stretch — was strongly in' eviilence, for Touton squads bombed every dugout except the one which boused the three signalmen during their temporary occupancy of the frontline, trenches. From then on the record of the activities of the Battalion reads like a raster of the American engagements on the Western front. The mere mention of the silver:

The "Homo Town Paper" is a complete history every year of you and ,s your neighbor*. It tells of the comj, ings and goings, the births, the mar- ,|. riages. the joys and the sorrows — all v, the ex-^its tliat go to make up comle tn unity life. j. History? Why, the average "Home ,1c Town Paper" contains at least TEN THOUSAND NAMES in the 62 weeks ie of any year! Just reflect a hit and realize what that means. If you sat, ■p down and read a voluminous history ie of the whole world from the birth o* |„ creation, vou would not find that many ! ie ' names in 1^. The percentage of Italians ) debarred is less than one per cent, of p j the total number of Italian immi- _ I grants. In thi* connection it is note- » | worthy that the Italian government, in Italy and through its embassy j at Washington, is taking the greatest L : pains in upKolding and enforcing the immigration laws of the United States. The Italian government feels this poli- ■ to be best, wisest and most just, ■ not only out of respect for the laws of f the United States, but out of consid- * eration for Italians. The Italian au-, thoritie* endeavor to prevent any one Italy who, under our immi- _ gration laws, may be dented the right of entry into this country, in order to save those individuals an endless . amount of inconvenience in every case | i ami a great deal of suffering in most _ 1 cases where such denial is made. ; ^ SEND THEM IN Send those little personals about your friends, the family yourself i the Sentinel, but be sure to get them t* tho office not later than
