CHRISTMAS SEALS For S«le in New Jernry to Help Fight Tuberculoois Thirty-seven million seals have been received by the N. J. Tuberculosis League and have been distributed to the 36 local organizations over the State. These will be sold at a penny each from November the 26th until Christmas . It is the Christmas Seal which has been the ehiela«upport in the organited fight against tuberculosis in our State. Last year 18,679.637 seals were used by New Jersey people on letters and packages going through the mails, or a per capita sale of 4.3. The money thus derived has been used to support nurses, who find eases while they are still curable and urge them to take clinic and sanatorium care. It has also supported daycamps and outings fay the anaemic, the Modern Health Crusade which reaches annually 100,000 pupils, nutrition clas*c«, open air schools antl a campaign of education through lectures, literature antl movies. The League believes that these efforts have had much to do with the1 reduction in the annual death rate from tuberculosis from 204 in 1904,' when the National Tuberculosis Assotion was organired, to 114 in 1920 per 100.000. It is a tremendous problem, however, to reach the 30,000 active cases in our State and render them assistance while still curable. if the Christmas Seal is used universally on all letters and packages between now , and Christmas, it will help very materially in the effort to reduce the uppalling loss of life from this preventable disease. New Jersey was sixteenth among the States last year in the per capita <nlpof, seals. If New Jersey can double llssale this year it will be among the "firaf In the per capita sale of Christmas Seals. Every sea) used carries not only a message of cheer to the friends and loved ones receiving them.Jiut a message of hope to the thousands of tuberculos sufferers, who will thus lie benefited. Mr. L. — "Russell, where have you been"? Russell— "Fi shin'." Mr. L. — "Then come out to the woodshed anil well have a whalin' expedition." j Lost something? Place an ad in the SENTINEL and it will be quick- . iy returned.
