p: w -L - " ~ I I * ' • " ^ ' Official Statement of the ' ' Executive- Committee I ON THE | New Ocean Front I Hotel Project For the past several years every citizen who has discussed the needs of Ocean City has referred to a New and Modern Ocean Front Hotel as an absolute necessity. The Chamber of Commerce realizing this need appointed a hotel committee who thoroughly investigated the hotel situation here. This committee reported that the time has arrived when Ocean City cannot hold her own against the competition of her resort rivals without this hotel. As a result of this report the Chamber of Commerce has formed an Executive Committee. The work of this committee is jj i , to supply ycean .City with a new and modern Ocean Front Ifotel sufficient to meet the needs of our increasingly popular sum- I mer resort. This hotel will have a great influence in the lengthening of the season and eventually Ocean City will grow into an ■ ; all-year-around resort. The new hotel will also bring a type of patronage long desired. !: j « , The question of location for the Hotel received most careful consideration. Hotel specialists have been consulted and it is ij i their undivided opinion that the site purchased, located on the Northeast corner of the Boardwalk and Eleventh Street and ex- I! tending back to Ocean Avenue, is the best possible location. This will locate the hotel with a 150 foot frontage on the Boardwalk i and a 285 foot frontage on Eleventh Street; also a frontage on Ocean Avenue. This site affords unexcelled opportunity for ^nta's. as well as revenue features for the hotel company. These rentals have a vital bearing on the success of the hotel H and will make possible larger dividends to the stockholders. The hotel will be constructed and will also be operated by The Ocean Front Hotel Corporation thereby permitting the stock- I ! Holders to participate and fully share in all profits derived from its operatioi and from its store rentals and concessions. * . Already tentative arrangements have been entered into with Mr. J. Howard Slocum, Manager of the Hotel Nermandie and for I ' ' Hotel famous^ * succe manager of hotels, whereby Mr. Slocum will be given an opportunity to make Ocean City's New ^ ... £ ♦ . ' ' Th.is ^ing a Project o fthe community, by the community, and for the community, every resident of the community, both per- ^ ; manent and summer, will be given an opportunity to participate in the purchase of the stock during the week of August 1st to 8th inclusive. The par value of the stock will be $100 per share, fully paid ahd non-assessable. The terms of payment will be liberal and will extend over a period of twelve months. i I he purchase of this stock should appeal to every citizeq,-pat' on and property owner of O&fan City, first, because the invest- , ment is represented by land, bncks, steel and good will, in one of the most desirable locations in Ocean CitL The earnings of other Ocean Front Hotels justify the prediction that the investor will receive a satisfactory return on the^estment- and second, because the project is distinctly a community enterprise and a new and modern hotel will be a very definite asset to the en- ■■ tire community. The Executive Committee as welT as every one of the 200 workers engaged in the success of the New Hotel Project asks the energetic, practical, and loyal support of every public-spirited citizen and resident of Ocean City. ■ . , Signed By * CAMPAIGN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.
