I OVER THE BAY ON f\ THE WINGS OF ' THE moss Continued from Page One. j I craft, Mr. Thomas established a world record for continued flight, | ^flying over Chesapeake Bay for ' f" iHwenty hours and ten minutes with- ' oat landing. [ By the courtesy of the Ocean City ; Yacht Club, the "Albatross" now operates from the Club wharf, and passengers can avail themselves at i any hour with a wonderful experience in flying for the nominal charge of $!>. For 815 a passenger may take the trip across to Atlantic City. V A detailed description of the flight we had on Monday afternoon in company with" Chief of Police I Johnson, bankrupts our vocabulary. •In some -respects the flight was . disappointing. We had anticipated _ some thrills and weird sensations, something 'of the nature of a cross between a ride on a switchback railway and an automobile smash, upsetting all sense of equitibrum. n Absolutely nothing of the char- j aeter occurred. The trip was as d easy and comfortable as facing into easy ann comioruiuiv ,ts

dreamless sleep within t ft hospitable arms of a well padded and • cushioned rocking chair. Ib/act we .would strongly recommend a flight to persons suffering from insomnia.' If they could not successfully woe the goddess MorTxppheus, in the "Albatross" with / "Tommy" as pilot, write them down — as hopelessly incurable. Some indication of the case with which a flight is attended, may he gleaned from an amusing incident which occurred to the aviators at Beach Haven. The Mayor, Dr. Willis, had taken < a flight accompanied by a little child of flve years. Returning to i terra firms, the little one enquired "When are we going up?" Tuesday the Ocean City Yacht : Club entertained 160 orphaned , children from Philadelphia ,and 10 , of the youngeqt tots were taken j for a flight, the guests of the avi- , ators, to their boundless delight. , The- "first impression which came ■ to as, as we began to ascend was | inspirational. Never before hod i we so impressive a conception of the majesty of the human intellect. j and its mastery over alt the forces ' , and laws of nature. , Here were we, four frail mortals, | judged merely from the physical | plane, by the inventive genius of i men, able to set at defiance the , immutable laws of gravitation ,at- < mospherie pressure, and equilibrum, and soar at will through the in- , flnitude of space. Material things , became so trifling and trivial, in ' , comparison with the human intel-i, led. The automobile bridge, a tri- | umph of engineering, became a , mere line of black across the bay, houses and other structures, in which we pride when on land, assumed a degree of appalling insig- ' , nifieance seen from the air. 1 , On the other hand, the moment the machine began to ascend, a delightful sense of gxhiliartion sweeps over one. The rapid passage . through Uie air banishes all feel- , ings of weariness and obscuration. The mind became clarified to a remarkable degree. Thoughts surge with rapidity through the brain, 1 and every fibre of the body becomes j vibrant with sensation. One can ' 1 only with difficulty supress the inclination, to shout aloud with sheer I joy of living, and being one of the race of creatures, able to accomplish such a conquest over the forces of nature. Seen from the heights. Ocean City looked for all the world like a beautifully cut cameo, resting a bed of opalescent blue. 9 The Yacht Club lagoon, underwent a remarkable transformation as higher we ascended. Seen from a moderate height, it appeared like 1 a piece of curiously formed jade reposing upon a cushion of green. Higher, with the setting sunrays ' falling aslant across the wings of ' the plane, it became transformed j into a sapphire of deepest blue. / it was an ideal day for flying. Overhead the cumulous rolled Into infinity, tinged with the crimson and gold of the setting sun. In . brief, 110 pcrsui, luu, experience,! I all the joys and delightful sensations of life, until he or she has taken a flight in the "Albatross" piloted by De Los Thomas. Tommy is the pilot. Brown is the quintessence of enterprise and executive ability. Immediately up-" on their arrival in Oceafl City, upon learning that Roy ■brgeois possessed a camera for the purpose of taking moving pictures, Mr. > Brown interviewed him, and ex- / perienced no difficulty in pursuail- ' ing him, '.to take a series of pictures of Ocean City from the air. Roy Burguois is ever ready to advance the Interest* of Ocean City. Mr. Burgeois undertook a 15 min- > ute flight, and secured a wonderful set of aerial-photographs. It was planned to take views also of Mayor Joseph G. Champion, the - City Commissioners, the Chief of Police, and the writer taking a flight, the entire series for distribution by the Patho corporation, and exhibition all over the couutry. Unfortunately, however, the Mayor and Commissioners were unable to attend, therefore the Chief of Police, and the writer flew without the City Fathers. 1 Messrs. Brown and Thomas have further offered their services, to advance" the hotel campaign, and willL gladly take up as their guests nil l v persons purchasing J1000 worth of ntock, and give them the pleasure of viewing the chosen site for the hotel from the air. 1 It should be added, that Messrs. * Brown and Thomas fulfil to the letter, the terms of their advertise- - ment. Every precaution conceivable is taken to ensure the pleasure and safety of their passengers. No aerial stunts are attempted. Nothing but straight flying, under a " pilot holding several records, and one who has flown 1800 hours anil - carried 5,000 passengers without a single mishap. tr- . «

Peels Spuds and Asks for Senate Vote

From spuds to Senate is quite lome hurdle, but the confident Mrs. \nni? D. Olson, of Minnesota, is lot afraid to pose in kitchen frock asking the voters ot the state to ■end her to the U. S. Senate in place Frank B. Kellog, the present Re- :

: publican Senate* Mrs Olson docs not let her campaign interfere with i housework, as one wide awake photographer found when he called j i at the home. Political wiseacres say Mrs Olson is piling up hundreds of f votes in her campaign.

SPLENDID SHDFFLE- ! BOARD AND BOWLING CASINO OPENED i ■ ' n Continued from Page One. beach promenading are out of <the i question. The theatres are not open e and nothing remains, but bed <fr » bowls. 1 The large crowds attending the:' shuffle-board and bowling casino,'1 ' recently opened, on Sixth Street I L and the Boardwalk, clearly indi- ' cate it was a necessity. In -/act , ' was in response to the earnest - solicitation of a host of admirers 1 of the games, that the proprietors i » with commendable enterprise and b public .spirit, gave themselves to 1 the project of building the casino. f .Hre structure is in every respect 1 ' | Tor the purpose it was erected, ; ' comfortable and commodious, airy and light. It contains eighteen well ! , fitted tables for the shuffle-board I and thirteen splendid bowl- : f i alleys. The appointments are s ! of the best, under the supervision j - of'a large force of attendants. Bowls anil shuffle-board are pre- 1 ■ eminently family games and reere- ' ation. Father, mother, sons and 1 daughters, may match their skill "lone against the other in a friendly ■ I tilt, and derive upmntsured fun out 1 of the game, f Ladies may indulge in both games without appearing in the re- " . motest degree undignified, and beat j " their inferior halves without, even . ^ ruffling their hair. A lover may find excellent opportunity to secure a safe place in his beloved's affections, and eclipse _ all rivals by diplomatically allow- ! ing her to out-class him at bowls ; or on the shuffle-board. , Considered fi»m every angle | | therefore. Ocean City owes a debt) j : of gratitude to the persons, who , 1 have added the Casino to the many ij

other features of recreational value the city possesses. It was a much needed adjunct to , I the Boardwalk, . and has already i | : proved a boon and a blessing. The 1 I Casino leaped into popularity in a j night, and will continue doubtless i to increase in usefulness and pat- ! The charges are moderate, and every courtesy, is shown by the attendants to their natrons. 1 Rumors are circulating to t he . ' effect, that there is the possibility , of a tournament being planned, to I determine who shall wear the t j of championship. If the scheme materialises, the ' Bowling Casino will add , valuable asset to the city's pros : ision for the summer guest.
