BURNING MORTGAGE AT UNION CHAPEL SERVICE ATTRACTS LARGE CONGREGATION ON SUNDAY A congregation which crowded the Union Chnpel to its utmost capn&ty, attended the sen-lee last Sunday evening to witness the burning of the mortgage, mdicat-, ing that the church is now f ree i from the incubus, of debt. It was a memorable event, and a glorious cnn>ummation, crowning the earnest labors nnd the many sacrifices made by the congregation. for the cause so near and dear to their hearts. Addresses appropriate " for the occasion were delivered by Rev. J. Perry Cox, who was in charge of Messrsthe ceremonies, I>r. -Henry Fisher, Messrs. M. McKenzie, Franklin Buck, and Thomas B. Shore. The speakers gave a fascinating , and instructive resume of the his- , tory of the church since its incep- . tion, and of the goo.l work accom- , - - plisbej by the institution, through the years. As the flames consumed the doc- , ument, the congregation united in | singing the Doxology, every heart , aglow with gratitude. Miss Edith McClelland delighted the congregation -with her rendition of appropriate songs. The Rev. J. Perry Cox will have charge of the service in the chapel, both morning and evening, during the month of August While the people of Central Ocean City are rejoicing in the removal of the toll from the bridge across the bay, fully cognisant that it is a matter of supreme importance to Ocean City, they rejoice equally as greatly, in the completion of the board walk over the meadows, to the tide water in the bay. , This new improvement is hailed j I with joy, not only by the many I persfns who use the bay, as part I of their summer recreation anil I pleasure- but also .by those who I delight in an evening stroll. ucugm in an evening hinin. i

IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION IN The South Ocean City Improve- IIII ment Association is proud of itS||yl efforts to provide places for the |||| children and young folks to play. , ml It now has two play-grounds ...in III working condition, one at 52nd ||t| Street and one at 58th Street. ID They are free to the kiddies* and l||l ere well paroniied. The swings, II sea-saws, haw1 and rings are in II use all of the time by children who II are just able to walk boys and II girls of school age and young men II in long trousers who have f"'- H gotten -their dignity. The tennis II court at 5Mtf>£tregt makes a third III playgground and is one enjoyed III by older -people. The small charge III of 5 Ocents a season for mem-ei- Ifll ship seems to be a help rather III than a hindrance In keeping It In ||| steady use. To the Editor Ocean Sentinel : The tax-paver of Ocean City has ||| always much to employ his (orjpj her) mind- with the various pro- j ||| jects advanced- first by one civic HI body, then another. Just now, it is the Chamber of HI Commerce and the Kiwaniv Club, 'Mi urging the speedy erection of a. Ill new High School and "Educational HI Plant." It has not been very many years j HI since the present High School was JII built; ami while the writer may i^'IH Ignorant on the subject, it still III doe« not seem necessary that the HI tax -payers, with an already *uf- HI flcientiy high rate, should be ||| burdened with a still heavier one- HI for only the "requirements of the HI State SaTameF School-" in session HI a few weeks in the year. So many general improvements II being required in Ocean City, the II one mentioned would be a luxury II not apparantly warranted by con- J dltions. TAXPAYER 1 RAID ON DRUM Fisheremen differ in their pre- j dilectjonfe us to others. John I' Jordan, Jr.. a summer resident ofl Ocean City, has either a . terrific i affeftion for black drum, or a fear- ; tul spite against the 'said druips. | Anyhow he most ccr;uinly 'si playing havoc upon them, and de- II pieling their numliers at* u g.iat II rate.
