first national 4 official staff at 1 mowrer's farm EI). VOSS DEMONSTRATES HIS , CANTALOUPE DEVOURING 1 GENU'S rSome hankers show a fondness i ' ,r music, others for poetry. Some are expert wood-carvers, and some 1 champion golfers, a A (eye are known as devoted to , the rod and reel, and one has been < hoard of who has a positive crav- : ing for chicken — feathered variety, i Ed. Voss excels over all, especially in novelty. Besides being a ! very proficient banker, he is said : to lie the champion cantaloupe demolisher, in every state in the I . Union, except Missouri — "where i they have to be shown." Hiram S._Mourer's farm at Beesley's Point, is showing the effect of Brother Voss' wonderful genius in this respect, in a very marked degree. East Friday morning, so the report is given, there were sufficient of the cantaloupe family, to fill a railroad oar. By night barely half a dozen remained. Ed Voss had been there. The same report states, that friend Voss is something of a connoisoeur in cantaloupes. He has highly cultured predilections; and none but the big and juicy ones, will appeal to his refined palate. It' appears that the official staff of the First National Bank were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Hiram S. Mowrer out qn the farm, an event which is looked forward to, with great anl-ci; ations. Mrs. Mowrer, it transpire', lias a positive genius for tempting the palates of her guests, a fact which the aforementioned staff have profited from upon previous occasions. This last visit to the farm, was in every respect fdeal. Abundance' was provided for the entertainment of their guests by the genial hosts, ami friend Voss, very kindly consented to demonstrate for their entertainment, his hatred and dislike for succulent cantaloupes. A FISHY SALUTE As the automobile parade bound for Atlantic City- wended its way across the part of the bridge span- j liing the rainbow channel, it was given a royal salute from a boat | on the bay, containing two devoted • Waltonians, Messrs Walter Simpson and W. Ward Beam. Ward Beam stood up in the borft, waving a four-pound floun- ; der. I^may be the two fishermen had chosen that peculiar form of salute with a symbolical meaning, to indicate whatever Ocean City undertook to do, it never flounders over the task. Be that as it may, both Messrs Simpson and Beam, state that the greetings they received fro mevery ear, as it passed over, was indicative of the true spirit of Ocean City- genial, hospitable, and, friendly in the highest degree. TO BUILD COMMUNITY IIOUSE The Woman's Committee of the South Ocean City Improvement Association has started to do excellent work under its new head — Miss Dorothy Morris. It is planning to build a Community House for the people of the south end. In three days two hundred and thirty dollars was pledged and a delegation interviewed the Mayor in regards to a lot. SOCIETY WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. Philip J. Barrel, of Ocean £ity and Philadelphia, desire to announce the marriage of their daughter, Caroline E-, to Mr. William 'H.Tott of Westmont, N.J. The ceremony was performed, July 22 1922. The young bride and groom are receiving the felicitations of their numerous friends, and many valuable tokens of deep and sincere esteem.
