TALL CEDARS HONOR !25TH ANNIVERSARP OF CAMDEN FOREST EVAN E. LEAR, AND ROY E. DARBY ATTEND THE FESTIVITIES The popular ami influential degree associated with 'the Masonic : Fraternity .know as the Tall j Cedars, assembled to the number! of 3000, to celebrate the twenty- \ fifth anniversary of the Camden ! Forest. The auspicious event was ' • honored with "all proper ceremon- ! , ials in the Camden Armory. *; The event will remain memorable, in the history of Cedardom,' for many years to come. Camden' ia by no means unaccustomed, to monster processions and parades. It is questionable however if ever; the city witnessed such a gorgeous spectacle, as when on Saturday, three thousand Tall Cedars, clad in their picturesque uniforms of or-' iental design, and accompanied byeight celebrated bands, paraded > through its streets, t It was a graphic and significant fi demonstration, of the numerical strength anil social influence anil prestige of the fraternity, in this section of the State. The monster parade was attended by asorics of competitive drills, and a musical competition between the rival bands. The drills were without exception brilliantly executed, while those of one or two companies were remarkable for originality and intricacy, indicating the most careful and consistent training. In the contest for the best Fancy Drill, the chief laurels were ruptured by Brandy-Wine Forest, of Wilmington Del. The second prize fell to Forest No. 11, of Atlantic City. The rivalry between the bands was exceptionally keen, and their perr formanees of a "very high standard of musical excellence. In the judgment of the adjudicators, two bands were of equal merit, and both received an equivalent to the prize. Hie successful bands were, the Brandy- Wine • Forest of Camden Band, and the Bridgeton Forest Band. To complete the rounded arc of perfection, in the celebrations, two hundred saplings Were duly and truly planted, in rich and fertile noil. That is to say, in the vernacular of ordinary pine and oak, far inferior of course to the tall anil regal cedar, two hundred novices were initiated into the secret mysteries of tin Forest, -one of whom was no less a person - age than the Mayor of Camden. Elaborate preparations had been made by the Camden Forest for the occasion, and the guests were given a most royal reception. The ' City put on gala garments, and helped to make the anniversary historic. i Two short Cedars from Ocean . City, associated with Forest No. 11, of Atlantic City, were present, an.l participated in the festivities. Evan E. Lear and Roy E. Darby. Both these gentlemen speak of the visit as the most notahle of it' kind they have ever been privelegcd to attend. The Camden Forest, the honored, celebrants of the day, entertained their guests with a variety of edibles sufficient in number and deliciousness to satisfy the palate of an Epicure.
