COUNTY DEMOCRATS ; ORGANIZE FORGES: t A mayor hallow elhcted to the ("hair of county i executive committee i t The leaders of the Democratic 1 Party, 1" Cape May County, met ( at Cape May Court House Monday ' f October 2nd to organize their forces in view of the forthcoming ' election, and to elect officers for,' the year. | Mayor E. O. Howell, of Avalon, ] was ejected County Chairman for : ^ the ensuing year. \ j The choice is regarded as in i •very respect ideal and worthy., juvor Howell carries into office s with him the Implicit confidence of his party, and a reputation of rare executive ability. I. Ilr. H. D. Taylor of Ocean City, was elected County Secretary .and Mri McClaln of Wlldwood, for the " oflice f Treasurer. The gentlemen who received the ' r party nomination for county of- ^ fices. at the recent primaries, were i present, and were called upon to ! address the assembly. | y The speakers discused from dif- j r ferent angles, the duties »f the of- j ^ fices for which they sought elec- q lion, and pledged themselves, if j returned to an honest, business- ! like administration of the affairs I ( oftheCounty. ? The addresses were most favorably received by all privileged to hear, and the candidates were as- ^ sured of the undivided allegiance , of the party during the forthcom- . i> g election. TAXPAYERS LEAGUE * INTERESTED IN PAVING „ PROGRAM o Thomas R. Fort Jr., President h of the Ocean City Taxpayer's 1 lengy was in town recently, and h expressed himself delighted over P the fact, that the Board of City s Commissioners, had embarked upon an ambitious program of street improvements. It will be remembered that Mr. Fort, strongly advocated this step,, in the course of his address, before the annual meeting of the Taxpayer's League Mayor Joseph G. Champion and other members of the City Admin istration were present, and heard the endorsement of the League, and its pledge of support (to the Board of Commissioners, when- ; j ever they thought it prudent to begin the work. To all appearance, the Taxpayer's League regard the action of the Commissioners with gratification. and if possible some members intend to be present, when the contemplated ordinance comes up ] for presentation and its first read-] - The Taxpayer's League is prov- 1 ing itself a factor of no small in-j fluence and power, identified with j every movement, for the advance- ! ment of the community. MRS. T. DOFDNEY CLARK || RETURNS TO WOODBURY I The gifted authoress of the charming travelogs which have I appeared periodically in the Sentinel, has returned to her home in ' N. J. Her letters from abroad have been read with infinite profit nnd pleasure by our readers, and more, than one has expressed a regret ! that they appear to have ceased. We are glad to giro the infor- , I motion, that Mrs. Dowdney Clark! i has by no means exhausted her ; resources of material garnered during this last excursion through ' | Europe. In a letter received by ] the Sentinel during the past week, t i Mrs. Dowdney Clark promises to I take up her magic pen again, as ( | soon as the exacting duties inci- . dental to the opening of her music i studio are completed. Mrs. Clarke's instructive description of the famous Passion I Play at Oberammagau, appears to ' have attracted great interest. Clergymen and minister^ have ' made the travelog the subject of ' I numerous discourses, and lectures, ' | while others purchased a number of copies of the Sentinel ui which j the letter appeared for distribution 1 j among their congregation^, j The Sentinel rejoices ii^ the safe 1 I return of Mrs. T. Dowdney Clark, j and will look forward with a great i j deal of pleasure to the appearance ( I ! of her next letter. i < Among recent week end visitors 1 to Ocean City, were Henry W. and George Franken- i field of Philadelphia. Both gentle- 1 men are devoted to the rod and j I reel, expert in the craft .and ac- . i lively associated with the Ocean ' City Fishing Club. j> Mr. and Mrs. James B. Collady, ' the popular owners of the St.' James, 615 Ocean Avenue, together j ! with the St. James annex, located ' i on Sixth Street and Ocean Avenue, ! 1 returned to Jenlrintown Pa. ■ have closed their apartment after a very busy and prosperous season. , ,
