Bunch of Broncho Busters Steal Away In The Night To Rowdy, Razzy Round-Up TWO TIMOROUS TREMBLING AND TAMED TENDERFEET. LED HI V A. LEAKING GUIDE, ARE MADE TO, DANCE THE WILD FANDANGO ON THE VOLTED CARPET J

Quiet and sober, seemingly harmless /ml respectable, judging ? from their outward demeanor. 75 Hough Riders of. Round Up No. 5, IP .assembled themselves at the RanE-" ch on a recent evening. Mortal man could never imagine from their conduct that the miscreants have no respect for the law, or the hides of their fellow creatures. Their movements are all shrouded in mystery. Away they steal in the shadows of the night, and screened by darkness ate able to perform their ■ wicked rites and tortures undisturbed. In a similar secretive manner : they return to their various ran- 1 ches, leaving no trace behind them t to betray their actions unless it be an inability to sit comfortably for t several days afterwards, on the t part of their victim. t Strange to relate however these j positively refuse to betray their j cruel torturers; rather they seem r ;o be consoling themselves over t _ their bruised anatomy, by cherishi.ig the hope of "doing likewise, t and more"' to some other poor ten- c derfoot. Arriving at the Ranch in Atlan- l< tic City, preparations were im- c mediately made for the initiation, d through the nerve-wrecking and » blood-curdling riles of the Round " Up, of two helpless tenderfeet, one of whom came into the paddock di banging at the end of a lasso, ct borne along by Rough Rider Kir- e< by. e:

I" due season the horrifying cereprfmal* was under way. >vn this occasion, the diabolical ingenuity of Welcome Shake Hughes, and Cheerful G*ide Lear, had devised a new torture. A* the tenderfeet were led into the arena, each Rider forming the circle around, suddenly released a| little white feathered bird out oft his hand. The birds made a pretty sight as they cavorted through the air; Alas, not as innocent as they seemed, each bird carried a charge of dynamite near the terminus of its suburban car Jine, which exploded with a fearful denonation J as it alighted on the floor. A hundred or more of these; cannonading denizens of the air, I hopped around the feet of the, luckless tenderfeet, as they were led into the Valley of the Scented Scull. Upon this occasion the Roughonly Riders seemed to a man to have been charged with a million volts of highly concentrated "pep" and their joy knew no bounds as the tenderfeet danced a wild Fandango upon the super vol ted Magic Carpet. Truth to tell however, there was some excuse for the merriment; for the tenderfeet certainly did perform some wonderful acrobatic j stunts, and a series of brilliantly executcd "high kicks" as they trod over the innocent looking rug underneath which a hundred fieryserpents coiled and writhed a- I round. i - When the tenderfoot missed his , e step and alighted in a less decor- t ous manner on the carpet, to be 1 bitten with red hot fangs, in the i vicinity of the South Pole o: the'e spinal column, the exhibition was!

it- most certain i y**ten.<a:ional. ig ProbahJy the most touching ami 75 pathetic scene came when the two tenderfeet, on their ki.ees before n- the Grand Potter and Cheerful Lear, were made to repeat the soa- iemn vows of the obligation. It ' le was a sad ami .sorrowful spectacle; >r and "more." :v 1- If the tenderfeet carry out alii •j the r pledges, the members of. the A i- legislature will be tormented with ; if demands for certain new laws unc- til the crack of doom, and "more." r It transpired happily that neib ther of the tenderfeet were tainted with tubercolosis. They blew r into the lung-testing apparatu.r with such force that the entire A i work exploded. F • The public has been made ac- * r quainled of course concerning the re i| wonderful' discoveries made recently in one of the tombs in Eg>- ch i pt. Relics of over five thou sum a ■ have been uneartheu. It is m i not however known that among ; ■ the relics two eggs were found. c: There were, and by some means these were produced by Cheerful or Iexr at the ceremonial. mi a Whiff!! Five thousand years is a In time to keep an egg fresh, ju as the Egyptians were, they on not discover means of'prevent- te: eggs from becoming a trifle malodorous in that space of time. Eventually the tenderfeet were duly and properly initiated, and 91, completely exhausted were invited to take a rest on the couch of and pleasant dreams. fav

igl Just for one brief moment however. It transpired that one of »' the galvanized serpents had crept j- from under the volted carpet, and r, hidden itself under the couch of 0 Snap! It* fiery fangs found a « | soft spot on the anatomy of the ( a j temlerfeet, and with a ghastly yell v if j they landed in the middle of the , i arena. it. Henceforth. Jessie Raymond , riKirby and Joseph Smyers are full- t y | fledged members of the Round Up. e M.J. Potter officiated as Grand . >f i American, John Kirby as Vice- I i- j Grand American, Evan Lear as ' n ; Cheerful Guide, Dr. J. Thornlev • Hughes as Welcome Shake, and ejRanscom Gaskill as Harmony I Guiiie. e i Following the ceremony, the *j Riders indulges) the inner man J with a delicious box-lunch, and y an abundance of Volstead White - Wine.
