POPULAR REALTOR IN POSSESSION OF NEW OFFICES A RELIC OF FORMER DAYS TRANSFORMED INTO HANDSOME STRUCTURE i A relic of former day*, representing Ocean City in it* infancy, 1 ha* been transformed by the pop- < } olar realtor John R. Jones, into a I handsome structure, adorning a corner, of Wesley avenue and 8th , street. i J Formerly known as the Hughes' ] Pharmacy, in the process of re- ] modeling an old landmark has „ completely disappeared. Often a sense of sentimental regret is experienced, when a fami- ( liar landmark vanishes before the ruthless wheels of progress. In this case however, the change hail t added so materially to the apoar- v nnce of the locality, that Mr. Jones t leserves the gratitude of every I citizen in the community, for sub- ] stituting a building with more than r passing artistic beauty, for a prehistoric pile. c Incidentally too, the splendHd , building which now houses Mr. ( Jones' establishment seems to indicate that real estate brokerage is the most profitable, if not the chief industry, in the city, and —

that Mr. Jones must be ranked as ■ one of the most successful of the ■ business in the resort. The transformation of the old ■ pharmacy has involved very ex- I ■ tensive alterations and a very ■ large expenditure of money. The stuccoed exterior gives the J building an effect of substantial- g ity, the Spanish tile decorations ^ adding the touch of artistic embellishment necessary to relieve the somlierncss invariably inseparable for a plain stucco structure. Wlien completed, the main entrance will be spanned over by a handsome marquee, which by tight will 1* very effectively 11- ' laminated. A finer room for the main office could not be desired, spacious and beautifully appointed with all the requirements of a first class .uodern business establishment. The illuminating system is as perfect as skill anil ingenuity could ■devise. The room can "oe lit up with a blaze of light, or by means of wall brackets of the candle ileKign, reduced to a degree as soft and mellnw as twilight. Immediately connected with the: main office, there is a private room nt the sen-ice of Mr. Jones, equally as commodious and well equipped. The second floor contains otehr handsome suites of offices, one of -which is occupied by the most re■ent representative of the law to •tang out his shingle in town. Tho rapid growth and exsiiou of Mr. Jones business made it imperative for liim to secure | more commodious offices than : those he formerly occupied. As at present located he has every facility available to accom-j modate the increasingly large •• r.umbcr of patrons who impose ah- ' ,-olute confidence in him and his | "njsiness judgment. South Jersey's Demand for NewTelephones Makes Necessary New Buildings, New Wire, New Switchboards, New Equipment We HAVE but one reason for being in business, and that is to furnish a comprehensive telephone service. When the people of South Jersey say to us, "We need more telephones," we can make but one answer. Ten thousand new telephones this year is our reply. And these new telephones will reouire millions of dollars' worth of new lines and central offic e equipment. Even with the tremendous amounts of equipment which we have poured into New Jersey in the past few years, there are people waiting for telephones. We are breaking records everv day in our effort to catch up with the demands which the people of southern New Jersey are placing upon us. \ THE DELAWARE & ATLANTIC^ I TELEGRAPH 8t TELEPHONE <X>. ; W.
