! CLEAN GOVERNMENT LEAGUE WOULD EIRE PROHIBITION CHIEF "RAIDING PARSON" DENOUNCES SENATOR EDGE AND COUNTY POLITICIANS Rev. John B. Adams of this city, : who, for his fearless enforcement j of the laws relative to the sale and •manufacture of drink, won for ! himself the sobriquet the "Raiding | minced no words in de- ' nouncing United SUtes Senator i and the politicians of Atlantic County. j The tirade was launched by Rev. Adams, in the course of an address j delivered before a meeting held, on Friday lust in St Paul's Methodist ; under the auspices of the < Atlantic County Clean Government League. Resolutions were passed requesting President Coolidge to remove from office Prohibition Director AdrianeChamberlain, on the ground of his inability to enforce the law. The resolution was sponsored by J. B. Adams. In supporting the motion, the reverend gentleman said: "If the government will let me I will enforce the prohibilaws. I can do it and I am willing to stake my life on that. you can't enforce the law if you are going to allow such men as ] your United SUtes Senator to hp- • point the enforcement officers and them take orders from Atlantic County politicians. "Mr. Chamberlain now says that ; I was discharged from the enforce- • ment service because my work was j not satisfactory to his office. I he tells the truth when he says I sieted the wrong liquor. I wasn't supposed to take any stuff that was made by breweries in which prominent Atlantic County i people are stockholders. God help ! the bunch If I ever get on the force again." The first excuse offered for the ! of Rev. Adams was that j of insufficient funds to maintain ■ so large a staff. The meeting endorsed the candidacy of Dr. Marna S. Poulson, j and John IL Blake of Pleasantville, who are seeking election to the assembly.
