j LEGION GOSSIP By One of the Band Say, our band has been requested to give a concert. Now, we will be quite prepared to concede to this urgent request, if all gate receipts are handed over before it begins, all guarantees nre cashed, and insurance policies provided, before the opening cords are struck. Trout issues the challenge that he can hit any note the class tells him to; but is blessed if he knows what note it is. And, by the way, it should be known that the clarinet section is playing some real classy duets — that is, the instruments, of course. Earl Sharp and John Adams are into deep stuff. None know how deep it will go; but we wonder whether there is any free air left in the town. There were some changing of hands the other night. Merrick thought Jeffries could play a cornet, so he gave the alto to Paris. It is rumored that the unison scale that will soon be taken up, will bring all instruments into harmony. Let's hope so! The neighbors hope so ! It was thought best to skip Thursday night's practice (we are getting so good) so as not to interfere with trap shooters (or crap shooters') enjoyment of their Thanksgiving dinner. AH that goes in should come out in sweet music, we know, consequently, we would have soured it. Something has happened. Art Shoemaker was in attendance at last week's post meeting. Some other benedict might copy your example, Art. Keep it up, maybe ho will be in the band next year playing a twintette. A prize of a note has been offered to the man making the most noise in the band.
