LOWER TWP - Agree ing that financial disclosure by candidates running for office is a good idea. Committeeman Jack Moran said Sunday lie is financially solvent, has no outstanding debts, "nor have any court judgements^ or bankruptcy proceedings ever been recorded against me regarding my business " His statement, in the form of a news release, came following a call last week for such financial disclosures by his Republican primary opponent. William Hevener. "IN 1979 I was a candidate for Township Committee," Mr. Moran noted. "My political opponents tried in vain to drag me through the mud over my ^former restaurant] business misfortunes, but the voters refused to listen. They elected me to office, in spite of the nasty campaign that was waged by my opponent. “The Republican Organization was outraged at the attacks aimed at me. and let the voters know of
their outrage many times within the media." ACCORDING TO Moran, township GOP leader Maurice Catarcio "was one of the first people to come out exalting my honesty [in 1979). Now he has completely reversed himself regarding my past financial situation." Mr Moran stated that employment records should be open to the public so job performance can be judged. "Any personal notes, whether good or bad, should be available to the public in order to let them judge the character and the ability to run for office."
